Who is Genie Shopping?
Genie Shopping is a UK-based, high-growth performance marketing business operating through the affiliate channel and CSS ecosystem. As a certified Google CSS Premium Partner, we work with retail giants like Boots, ebay, Frasers, B&Q, Currys, and Lookfantastic, serving over 57 billion ad impressions to users across our network.
We differentiate ourselves through our managed CSS CPA model and our technical scale. We don’t act as a traditional CSS; we act as a performance partner. Alongside our self-managed SaaS offering, our core revenue comes from our CPA model, which means our success is directly aligned with our clients'. We are a driving force in the industry, leading the conversation through education, sponsorship, and active event contribution. This approach has led to huge success, doubling our growth in 2024 and setting new records in 2025.
We are a certified Great Place to Work with a remote-first setup. Our environment is small (~20 people) but ambitious. We value:
Autonomy: We hire people who want to own their output. If you love solving complex problems and implementing your own ideas, you will thrive here.
Connection: We prioritize culture over geography. We get together for proper team socials every quarter - think punting, cocktail making, and go-karting, to ensure we stay connected as people, not just colleagues.
The team is remotely based, but has fluidity in meeting in-person for client meetings, industry events, strategy days and team socials. There are requirements to travel to Cambridge around once a month, with London (or other UK locations) once a month on average.

What is the role?
Genie Shopping is looking for an experienced PPC Lead to own the day-to-day operations of our affiliate model Shopping Ads activity across Google and Microsoft.
This is a senior role, sitting between PPC Managers and the Head of Paid Media. You’ll be responsible for ensuring that performance across a large retailer portfolio of 700+ Shopping Ads accounts is managed in a structured and scalable way.
The role requires strong Shopping Ads expertise, with a focus on setting direction for day-to-day activity, ensuring the PPC team is working on the right tasks at the right time, and that existing frameworks and processes are applied consistently and effectively.
The position is mostly internally focused. There may be occasions where you support or join client conversations to provide specialist Shopping Ads input, but this is not a client-management role.
What you'll do
Operational ownership
Take ownership of day-to-day Shopping Ads operations across the retailer portfolio, with accountability for performance and profitability.
Ensure the PPC team is consistently focused on the highest-impact areas, guided by performance data and commercial priorities.
Set clear priorities, guardrails, and expectations for how accounts are managed day-to-day.
Act as the point of accountability for account health, stability, and delivery quality.
Performance and frameworks oversight
Oversee performance across 700+ Shopping Ads accounts, identifying portfolio-level patterns, risks, and opportunities.
Determine when intervention is required versus when systems should run, ensuring issues are resolved efficiently without unnecessary manual optimisation or ad-hoc changes.
Identify actionable insights on trends and performance drivers to the relevant stakeholders, focusing on practical implications and next steps rather than detailed reports.
Own and maintain testing and optimisation frameworks, standards, and ways of working.
Make incremental improvements to structures, processes, and playbooks, ensuring Shopping Ads setups and feeds remain fit for purpose at scale.
Roadmap input and delivery
Use day-to-day experience to help shape the Paid Media roadmap, including highlighting constraints and risks.
Help translate roadmap initiatives into practical, operational change for the PPC team.
Work collaboratively with Partnerships, Sales, Product, and Data teams to solve issues and deliver improvements.
Team leadership
Provide day-to-day direction and support to PPC Managers, ensuring work is prioritised correctly and delivered to a high standard
Support PPC Managers in making sound decisions and developing their skills.
Act as the escalation point for questions and issues.
External awareness
Keep up to date with developments in Shopping Ads and performance marketing, and identify opportunities relevant to the Genie Shopping business model.
Identify relevant events for yourself and the wider team to develop knowledge in both the PPC and performance marketing industries.
Skills & Experience
Skills & Experience (Required)
Typically 5+ years’ experience in PPC, with strong knowledge of Shopping Ads
Experience owning large account portfolios
Proven ability to prioritise effectively in complex, high-volume environments
Comfortable working within existing frameworks and improving them
Ability to oversee performance without relying on constant manual optimisation
Able to communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Skills & Experience (Desirable)
Experience in affiliate or CPA-based models
Understanding of the Google CSS ecosystem in the UK and EU
Exposure to environments where scale, consistency, and risk management matter more than bespoke optimisation
Background in e-commerce, marketplaces, or performance-led retail environments
